As Director of Business Development, you will mentor and scale a team of business development reps, as well as develop your own book of business. Papaya has already made payments to tens of thousands of businesses in all 50 states, and you will help lead this our next chapter of growth.

What you would be doing:
- Hire and motivate a team of high-performing sales professionals across new and existing verticals
- Cultivate relationships; you can convey to decision makers the unique vision of what Papaya does and educate prospective accounts on a sense of what’s possible
- Work closely with our VP of Growth & Marketing to define strategy for growing the business development segment
- Prospect, qualify, pitch, and close; hit and exceed goals by creating win-win solutions
We’d like to hear from you if you:
- Have proven experience managing a team of business development or sales reps
- Thrive in moments of ambiguity; we’re figuring out how to thread a sale through multiple prospects and personas within an organization and you’ll help us fill those gaps
- Are an excellent communicator, written and verbally
- Like to win and motivate others while getting there
- Have experience running the full sales cycle - from lead generation to bringing the partnership across the line
- Love working with people and they love working with you
We’d be especially excited if you have B2B, B2B2C, and/or channel sales experience. If you have prior experience in fintech and/or healthtech, don’t forget to mention it.
