Plastiq is looking for a Senior Product Marketing Manager to help us capture a new customer segment: Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMB).
The Backstory. Plastiq is building a new category of bill pay that provides many benefits to SMBs. Entrepreneurs, business owners, controllers, and CFOs come to Plastiq because they value an additional benefit: improving their company’s working capital. By allowing businesses to put virtually any expense on their credit card, we’re helping them fully tap the line of credit they’ve already earned on their MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express cards. We need your help to tell this story simply and at scale.
You’ve launched category-defining products. We’re building a new category that improves business outcomes for millions of entrepreneurs and business owners. You will lead the charge in making sure all functions within the company are broadcasting a unified message widely and consistently. You'll be the expert in our competitive differentiation and making sure our go-to-market functions know how to use the latest industry trends to be more effective. You’ll work closely with sales and marketing teams in staking out Plastiq’s leadership position in payments.
You understand small and medium-sized businesses - their pain points, their aspirations, their challenges. Our customers are busy building their businesses - how do we articulate the value we bring to them so they understand where we fit into their business strategy? How do we answer the key questions - Why Buy? Why Plastiq? Why Now? To answer these questions, you’ll use your mastery in customer and market research.
You know how to make our go-to-market teams more effective. You’re one step removed from revenue so the proof of your success is how much your stakeholders say they can’t live without you: for the insights you deliver or the training you provide them. You also work effectively with cross-functional teams - customer support, risk and operations teams - to help remove friction in the customer relationship and surface key learnings that the whole company can act on. You help go-to-market functions deliver sustainable and repeatable results and for that they are forever in your debt.
You’re scrappy while building for scale. You specialize in defining the roles and responsibilities of the solutions marketing function by analyzing the requirements, strengths, weaknesses and gaps in an organization. At the same time, you’ll be tackling some basics of product marketing (pitch decks, competitive analysis, sales training, customer case studies, etc) while also developing go-to-market initiatives to help drive revenue across channels.
You have solid communications skills. You have a knack for communicating complex ideas simply. You’re also comfortable representing the company to prospective and current customers whether at a public event, in customer advisory board or during a webinar,
You’re a true team player. You’re the glue that will often times hold our sales and marketing org together so the ability to work with different people, personalities, and teams while maintaining and managing all other responsibilities is integral to success.
