Technical Recruiter

Picnic’s mission is to structure the world’s medical data and make it useful. We work directly with patients to collect, digitize, and manage their complete medical records, giving them with control over their care through a personal health timeline (see demo). We also partner with biotech, genomics, and pharma companies who sponsor PicnicHealth accounts for research volunteers. Through this work we’re building the data sets that power some of today’s most cutting edge medical research. We’re going through a crazy period of 20x growth this year, coming off our recent Grand Prize finish in Google Cloud’s Machine Learning Startup Competition.

We’re looking for the first recruiter to join our team. You’ll play a critical role in building the team — primarily engineering and product, but occasionally for other roles across the company as well — initially reporting to the CTO. You’d have high impact and wide-ranging responsibility: owning full-cycle recruiting, driving hiring strategy, leading first-in-kind searches, and delivering best-in-class candidate experience. You must be a builder who thrives in a learning environment—unafraid to try new things, embrace new ideas, and welcome suggestions for how we can iterate on our processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and drive a full recruitment cycle, and build out and improve new and existing interview processes
  • Work closely with the product team to deeply understand hiring needs, and with teams across the company
  • Be the point of contact for candidates through the hiring process, and guide them through to joining the team
  • Develop and execute a sourcing strategy across many channels
  • Track and analyze hiring performance
  • Craft and hone the candidate pitch to optimize close rate
  • Ensure candidates have a delightful experience, regardless of hiring outcome

A candidate must have:
  • 3+ years of full-cycle technical recruiting experience, specifically for software engineers
  • A proven ability to attract passive candidates and build a diverse pipeline
  • Ability to understand and pitch technical content of engineering roles
  • A growth mindset, and a desire to learn and do new things
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

The ideal candidate:
  • Worked at a fast-paced, high-growth startup
  • Has written enough code to effectively empathize with software engineers
  • Takes an active and data driven approach to problem solving; enjoys making sense of trends and process insights
