JOB PURPOSE:
(overall functional purpose of the role)  

The Buyer is responsible for planning, selecting and purchasing quantities of goods and merchandise that are sold in traditional brick and mortar and emerging ecommerce channels. The Buyer will source new and review existing goods to ensure products remain competitive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develop and execute selection and procurement of aligned beauty categories
* Curate brand portfolio, identifying white space and editing overages
* Continuously identify new brands through research, identify upcoming trends via social listening and conduct analysis to gain insight and provide input for ongoing strategy
* Oversee planning and management of inventory
* Work with Head of Operations and prospective suppliers on all aspects of contracting including pricing
* Oversee supplier management
* Identify and meet suitable suppliers/manufacturers
* Identify and analyse consumer trends and patterns to forecast suitability to company strategy and vision
* Visit fashion shows and trade fairs to source new products
* Manage stock levels
* Negotiate prices, quantities, terms and delivery timelines
* Pitch ideas for future, seasonal, promotional product selection
* Produce reports, budgets, forecasts
* Conduct product focused research and analyse the results of research but use the data to predict future results.
* Financial administration (agreements, set margins, sku sets ups, etc)
* Managing and oversee junior staff
* keep up to date with the latest news and research.
* Liaise with other employees/stake holders to educate, collaborate to enhance sales performances
* Ongoing review of what is working/what isn’t
* Travel extensively - attending trade shows, meeting wholesalers and visiting stores
* Out of the box thinking to address challenges - using skill to maintain relationships across the industry
* Promote brand identity and deliver sales results to the organization through effective product strategy/pricing
* Roll up sleeves and dig into daily operational needs as required for growing a start up company

QUALIFICATIONS
(experience)

* Experience as buyer of beauty brands, or CPG related sales role
* Proven record of success leading teams
* Inventory forecasting and management (3+ years)
* Good negotiation skills
* The ideal mix of experience is with some time spent at a large company along with start-up/small/mid size company experience.
