Senior Product Counsel

We’re looking for a Senior Product Counsel that will help us to build a new Fintech system from the ground up with best-in-class tools. The ideal candidate will have experience with federal and state laws related to lending. Specifically, experiences with loan servicing, collection of current and delinquent consumer debt and consumer protection laws and regulations are very valuable.

This role is a first Product Counsel position at Peach Finance. This role will challenge your understanding and interpretation of laws to create technology driven solutions that help borrowers to preserve and improve their financial health. In addition you will help the teams with other legal related topics such as: compliance, state licenses, commercial agreements, terms of service, privacy policy, and more.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the legal and compliance efforts, represent the legal team, facilitate legal related discussions and help other teams to accomplish their initiatives.
  • Review and evaluate business proposals and specifications, and guide the teams from idea stage to launch.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Operations teams on servicing and collections related products to ensure new technology is built and launched in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Draft and document servicing and collection related policies and procedures.
  • Simplify complex legal laws and regulations language so other teams can quickly understand and learn the topics.
  • Manage external counsels and other vendors relations and balance in-house and outsourced work.
  • Track regulatory updates from federal and state agencies in regard to servicing and collections topics, and ensure that our practices stay compliance with the latest developments.

Requirements:
  • J.D. degree and a state bar member in good standing.
  • 7-10 years experience in lending: loan management, servicing and/or collections.
  • 5+ years of in-house experience.
  • Experience with the legal and regulatory frameworks such as: FDCPA, TCPA, SCRA, FCRA, EFT, ECOA, GLBA, UDAAP, The U.S. Bankruptcy Code, and more.
  • Deep understanding of consumer credit products and related legal issues; prior experience with technology driven lending products is a plus.
  • Ability to understand business needs and help other teams to craft solutions that solve problems while staying within legal and compliance boundaries.
  • Superior organizational and project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects to deliver results within short timelines.
  • A passion for improving consumers financial health by surrounding them with flexible credit management solutions.
