Mechanic Helper

  • $14.00 - $17.00/hour
  • The responsibilities of the Mechanic Helper include but are not limited to the following:
    • Assists mechanics with repairing vehicles and equipment;
    • Cleans and maintains shop equipment and tools
    • Maintains and monitors parts and fluid inventories
    • Performs minor equipment repairs
    • Maintains shop in a clean and orderly manner
    • Operates various hand tools, including spray gun, sander, grinder, grease gun, hydraulic jack, welding tools, etc.
    • Checks batteries and fluid levels in equipment and replaces or replenishes as needed
    • Performs lubrication and related maintenance
    • Repairs flat tires and tubes, including dismounting
    • Picks up supplies and parts from vendors or suppliers as necessary.
    • Regularly lift, carry or push/pull supplies, materials, equipment and/or items weighing up to 50 lbs
    • Primarily work outdoors
    • Assist with project work as directed by Supervisor and Department Manager
    • Comply with all ParkUSA policies, procedures, guidelines. 
     
    Education, Skills and Experience:
    • Must be 18 yrs old or older
    • Highschool Diploma, GED or equivalent
    • General knowledge in mechanical repair work. 
    • 6+ months of experience working with or for a Mechanic 
    • MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE 
    • Must be skilled in using both hand and power tools.
    • Able to work with and apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
    • Able to read, write and speak in English language
     
    Key Competencies:
    • Proficient in safety regulations and quality control related items.
    • Regular attendance is essential. Must arrive at work on time, prepared to perform assigned duties and work assigned schedule. 
    • Able to learn, organize and prioritize work as necessary.
    • Stand/bend/stretch/reach/kneel/crawl/climb
    • Must have a reliable means of transportation to and from construction job sites and/or shop.
    • Ability to work effectively as a team member, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
    • Ability to self-manage and solve problems
    • Possess a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
