Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer's role is to support and improve the process of manufacturing products and assemblies produced by ParkUSA. The ME supports the production of systems and problem solving with plant personnel. The ME is responsible for improving processes that meet engineering specifications in the manufacturing production system. Works closely with the engineering and sales group to ensure a smooth transfer of new technology or product to be manufactured. Final QC checkoff on engineered products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans, directs and coordinates manufacturing processes required for production.
  • Develops, evaluates, improves and documents manufacturing processes.
  • Develops and implements process control techniques and procedures in manufacturing environments.
  • Analyzes manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancement of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
  • Verifies final Quality Control conformance to drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborates with Design Engineering regarding product tooling and design to ensure effectual production methods.
  • Confers with vendors in determining product specifications and arranging equipment, parts, or material purchase, and evaluates products according to quality standards and specifications.
  • Works in conjunction with Manufacturing Departments to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.
  • Designs and develops manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.
  • Provides engineering support in the Production Department to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Supports Company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, safety, and goods manufacturing practices.
  • Provides technical support to Manufacturing personnel.
  • Responsible for Router Improvements (the process map for make parts; contains key data elements for standard cost and schedule).
  • Instruction Sheet Integrity - Standard Work (written process instructions, machine setup, inspection technique, methods, etc.).
  • Supports and develops Lean Improvements and promotes Safety.
  • Participates in Technology Transfers and researches New Technology to improve the manufacturing process.
  • Works on creating tooling and processes for manufacturing flow.
  • Works on reviewing and releasing of engineering product file.
  • Works on creating engineering change requests for design changes if manufacturing issues arise.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited college required.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in an engineering capacity preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Minimum Required Education, Credentials, & Experience:
  • Knowledge of manufacturing concepts such as parts receipt, assembly, testing and shipment.
  • Ability to grasp modern technology quickly.
  • Experience in MRP systems, i.e. SAP, Oracle or SAGE.
  • Must be a good communicator.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior.

Additional Optional Experience:
  • NPCA PQS certification
  • ACI Field Grade and Strength Testing certification
  • Knowledge of precast concrete
  • Knowledge of water pump systems
  • Prior experience with Oldcastle, Rinker, Hanson, Cemex, Forterra,
