Technical Writer (Networking)

We are seeking a highly motivated, ambitious Technical Writer with strong experience in creating technical documents and playbooks, explain complex information in a clear and concise manner and working with a diverse staff to ensure accuracy of product descriptions.

Key Roles:

  • Exceptional writing, editing, formatting, collaboration, and communication (Minimum 3-5 years experience)
  • Experience collaborating with writers, visual designers, and other cross-functional partners
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and diplomatically
  • Thrives in a dynamic environment with rapidly changing priorities 
  • Must be a self-starter capable of managing multiple tasks in accordance with departmental processes and standards with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with creating technical documentation, training program documentation, user manuals, and updating hardware and software documents.
  • Hands on experience in  creating digital documentation, and technical guides 
  • Experience in creating interactive multimedia content.
  • Familiarity using photo and video editing software including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop.
  • Proficient in all design related programs and intimate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Passionate and skilled in producing photography and video highly preferred.
  • Bachelor Degree preferred
 
Requirements: 
  • Must have good networking background and deep understanding of enterprise networking concepts
  • Basic understanding of Network Topology, Types of Networks( Star, Mesh, Ring, Tree, Bus, etc)
  • Basic understanding of Network Components (Routers, Switches, Modems, Filters, Servers, WAP - Wireless Access Points, Firewalls, etc)
  • Should be able to understand and draw network architecture diagrams, Internet & WWW basics (TCP/IP, URLs). 
  • Basic web design, HTML, CSS, Markdown, Media-wiki markup, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop or other image software
  • Delivering a comprehensive solution for our users that include Wiki development and user guides
  • Manage the timelines for on-time delivery of the guides

Nice to have: 
  • PowerPoint
  • Dozuki (or other step-guide creation experience), SharePoint, G-Suite
  • Familiarity with data centers, server hardware, network, and Supply Chain
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere and After Effects strongly preferred  

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in OrangePeople monthly team meetings, and participate in team building efforts.
  • Contribute to OrangePeople technical discussions, peer reviews, etc.
  • Contribute content and collaborate via the OP-Wiki/Knowledge Base. 
  • Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested
