About us:
Oncora is an oncology software and data company dedicated to helping physicians and scientists collect and use real-world data to improve outcomes for cancer patients. Our products include: a workflow integrated data capture software system for radiation oncology, a data warehouse to amass real-world, regulatory-grade oncology data, a predictive model API with machine learning algorithms to power partner software, and a life sciences partner product leveraging automated medical image analysis to advance new technologies in the fight to cure cancer. We work with world-leading cancer centers such as MD Anderson and Northwell Health, and our team is mission-driven to its core.
About the role:
In this role, you will own the core infrastructure used by all of Oncora’s engineers. As one of our first infrastructure engineers, your decisions will make a significant impact at Oncora. With your expertise, we want to make our platform even more reliable and allow our engineers to be maximally productive. You will play a critical role in building and managing our secure cloud infrastructure that will be used by clinicians at healthcare institutions across the country. We work directly with the people who use our systems, which allows us to turn their feedback into constructive improvements.
As an early stage healthcare company, your work will contribute to the foundation of our internal scalability. It is important that our tools, applications and processes are scalable and adept. You will work with product management and engineers on many important projects. Oncora's goal is to continue to install our software in hospital systems across the country to improve clinical decision making, and your work on the scalability of our platform will help accomplish this. At Oncora, we hold ourselves to high standards across all teams. We routinely handle patients' sensitive information and therefore must adhere to the best possible security practices. Once you understand our codebase, you should be able to debug issues across services and all levels of the stack. Compared to a typical DevOps role, this particular position is more of a building role, with a focus on operability and stability. - Thorough understanding of VPC networking and the ability to design a network topology that can interface with separate internal VPCs via peering and heterogenous customer networks via VPN
- Experience implementing, orchestrating, and maintaining modern containerized environments (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes, etc.)
- Experience with common infrastructure automation and configuration management tools; our stack primarily uses Terraform and Salt, so bonus point for experience with those
- Solid understanding of relational and non-relational database technologies, CAP theorem, and database replication & tuning strategies
- Demonstrated experience building production software in Python, JavaScript, Go, or similar languages
- Tendency to seek simple, elegant solutions to complex problems
