Functional Consultant - EMEA

What you tell your friends you do

“I make sure that o9 customers get a perfect running platform so that they are happy and effective at the end of the day”

“I help supply chain planners and decision makers make their work more effective and efficient, so the large and complex corporations where they work at can improve service and sales while reducing operating costs”

What you really do

After the customer has signed the deal your work will start. You will support o9’s European customers during and after the implementation to ensure customer success. As part of your daily activities, you will be working with customers and coordinate with several internal departments like product development, product management and support teams. You will need to learn the language of the customer and translate that back to o9 language to be effective. Travelling is part of the job.

You will:

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of industry best practices, business processes, o9’s solutions, technical architecture, and value proposition.
  • Identify any design issues in the existing setup and coordinate with other o9 consultants to solve the business challenges a customer is facing. Be the single point of contact for any platform level upgrade/patch/hotfix.
  • Configure the o9 platform based on the change requests/enhancements post-go-live and deliver them to solve deep operations or supply chain problems.
  • Create and execute workflow and data analytics test-cases. Work on bugs/issues and track progress at resolving issues using the support tool.
  • Facilitate superuser and end-user training, for a global user base.
  • Work directly with end users (planners, managers, stakeholders) on how the new system enabled process would affect the new way of supporting their responsibilities towards the business and daily work activities.

This may seem a lot but don’t worry, we will train you to become the best functional consultant!

A regular day of a functional consultant

You wake up in the hotel close to the customer’s office, get ready, have a quick breakfast, juice and coffee and after a short walk meet with the rest of your delivery team. After a quick recap with the team about the process that you developed yesterday, you sit down with three of the customer’s future users of the o9 platform and demonstrate the process you developed directly in the o9 platform. When the users overcome their shock that already in the second week of the project you are able to turn their Excel data in a prototype in the o9 platform, you continue to configure the tool closer to the specific needs of these users while explaining to them why this process works in a similar way in the o9 platform for one of the best-known coffee companies in the world.

In the afternoon you regroup with the rest of the team and the customer and start brainstorming about the next phase of the project: post-its, whiteboards, reference cases and the wildest ideas fly around, and you help the customer towards the right solution for their specific use cases. At the end of the day, you review the outcomes with the team and the customer while forming teams for the team building activity in the evening (so, for tonight’s cooking workshop you need to decide whether you want to prepare the main course or prefer to work on the dessert…). After a nice meal, you return to the hotel and realize: wow my job is great!
