Our specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill – from building and highways, to large-scale water networks and treatment plants.

The Civil Operations Manager will head up the existing civil business to deliver a programme of projects across the South West region mainly working with Water Industry Client base. The ops manager will also aim to increase the strength & depth of the team to meet challenging targets.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all civil activities and staff to ensure that Health & Safety, design, procurement, financial control and site activities are managed to the highest standards in all areas of project delivery.  One of the primary responsibilities will be to align to the client’s direction and needs, interpret contract commitments and to manage client expectations.  The role will also include both upward and downward reporting within Nomenca and to the client providing clear and precise direction at all levels.

Working with the client to ensure that the key deliverables within each stage of the projects are being administered to the highest quality, the Operations Manager will ensure that the proper interpretation of the design briefs are established and the delivered solutions meet and exceed the expectations of the client and Nomenca. Working with the client to enable the most efficient and cost effective approach in delivering outstanding projects while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety & quality.  Assisted by the Commercial team you will demonstrate and develop financial controls that detail profit and loss and detailed cost to complete reports for each project within the program.

  • Provides a vision and defines clear team roles, responsibilities and objectives whilst providing a hands-on approach to supporting the civil Project Team
  • Manages people, resources and relationships efficiently to ensure effective delivery of programmes and projects
  • Builds trust and openness with customers and stakeholders, keeps them updated on progress and acts upon feedback
  • Empowers others to improve the scope, delivery capability, measurement and provision of
  • customer and stakeholder services
  • Make sound, evidence-based decisions, assessing risks and identifying opportunities
  • Promotes effective information sharing
  • Undertake regular site visits and audits
  • Ensure commercial challenge at all times to site teams
  • Promote Near Miss and Positive Intervention reporting
  • Reviewing sub-contractor performance
  • Ensure audit findings are closed out
  • Contract and financial negotiations
  • Set and monitor targets
  • Ensuring all programmes are updated in line with requirements
  • Monitoring of site Health and Safety behaviours
  • Ensuring all project KPI`s and KPM`s are achieved
  • Ensuring compliance to Internal and client system & procedures
  • Cost risk management and early identification of problematic projects
  • Ownership of the entire project, design, costs, programme, documentation, site activities, procurement etc

The experience we’re looking for in a candidate

  • Experience of working with in the Water Industry
  • Experienced Project Management Professional
  • Experience of NEC suite of Contracts Strong team player but also able to work as an individual
