ASL Life Skills Coach (American Sign Language required)

Our ASL Life Skills Coaches will work directly with clients who may have a hearing impairment, be hard-of-hearing, or deaf. Applicants must be fluent in ASL and also able to effectively communicate in the English spoken language.

Open Position: ASL Life Skills Coach

Shift(s): 7am-3pm OR 3pm-11pm shifts available; Every Other weekend REQUIRED for full-time employment

$2,000 sign-on bonus for certified ASL staff or $1,000 sign-on bonus for non-certified ASL staff*

Full-Time Position

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be bilingual in English and ASL
  • Serve as an interpreter between ASL client(s) and clinical staff, therapists, physicians, staff, and other individuals
  • Ability to effectively read, write, count, and speak the English language, to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Caring, extremely patient, and excited to work with people who have brain injuries
  • Experience working with behaviors, preferred

  • Great at Multi-Tasking
  • Excellent at redirection & encouragement
  • Great driving record -- must have a VALID DRIVERS LICENSE & CLEAN DRIVING RECORD
  • Clean, professional appearance (uniform required)
  • Must pass a Level 2 Background Screen
  • Drug-Free Workplace, must have a clean drug screen
  • MUST be able to lift 50+ lbs
  • Must be minimum 18 years old

DAY-TO-DAY DUTIES may include, but not be limited to:
  • Assistance with ADL's (not required for all positions, but may include assistance with dressing, grooming, showering, toileting, and basic caregiving)
  • Maintaining client supervision
  • Light housekeeping
  • Laundry assistance
  • Meal preparation
  • Transporting clients to appointments, outings, etc
  • Mentoring and encouraging clients who may have a history of substance abuse, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Cognitive or developmental disabilities, behavioral episodes, etc
  • Maintaining documentation
