FULL-TIME; EVERY OTHER WEEKEND REQUIRED
12pm-8pm
Team: Transportation
Description: Individual will assist clients by transporting them to medical appointments, therapies, grocery shopping, leisure outings, and other destinations while maintaining their supervision (as needed) and ensuring a safe and timely trip.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Must have a valid Florida driver's license
- Must have an acceptable driving record per the company policy: No more than 3 minor violations in a 3 year period and zero major violations (Major violations include but are not limited to careless driving, DUI/DWI, speeding in excess of 20 mph over the speed limit, and/or any at-fault accidents)
- Experience operating a wheelchair lift and securing wheelchairs, preferred
- Must receive and maintain a valid CPR & 1st Aid certification (training provided)
- Must be able to understand and operate GPS devices, cell phones, and be able to interpret and read maps
- Must be a minimum of 25 years old
- Must pass mandatory drug screenings, as required
- Prior experience working as a professional driver, chauffeur, and/or medical driver, a plus
- Required to complete and obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate annually
- Must complete and pass a written driving exam
- Must have patience and be able to remain calm and professional in hectic situations, when challenged with tight schedules, and heavy traffic.
- Must always put our clients needs first while remaining professional, respectful, humble, and maintaining high integrity
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Must receive and maintain an eligible level 2 background screen, per AHCA guidelines
- Must meet all state health requirements which require annual renewals
- Reliable transportation to and from work; Prompt and reliable
- Ability to always maintain professionalism even in difficult situations
- Maintain confidentiality and always comply with HIPAA guidelines
- Ability to read, write, count, and speak the English language, to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Essential Job Functions:
- Must be able to communicate effectively with Clients, families, staff, medical providers, and community officials
- Willing and never afraid to “get your hands dirty.” Having a “can-do” attitude and not expecting anything from your team that you are not willing to do yourself
- Able to respond to situations quickly and effectively, as needed, and learning from experience while applying knowledge effectively
- Effectively communicates and continually maintaining contact with headquarters and regarding schedule progress, any potential delays, to receive instructions, and any other issues that may arise
- Assist clients into and out of vehicles safely. This may include utilizing a wheelchair lift and properly securing them into the vehicle, assisting a client who have have gait difficulties, walkers, etc, escorting them into and out of their destination and/or home while maintaining their supervision
- Notifying client if you are going to be late or if there are any other variations in the transportation schedule
- Maintain professional image and attitude at all times
- Must be able to take instructions from dispatch teams/headquarters regarding destinations and timelines
Job Duties:
- Check in at headquarters for daily schedule
- Inspect vehicle(s) for fuel and cleanliness at the beginning, end, and throughout each shift. If vehicles need either, you are responsible for the completion of these duties
- Inspect vehicle(s) for needed maintenance, minor repairs, scratches or dents, and document on daily log while also reporting to supervisor
- Complete transportation checklist before and after each transport
- Always being responsible for the care and maintenance of the vehicle(s) by reporting all maintenance, damage and auto accident information immediately to supervisors
- Keep interior and exterior of your assigned vehicle(s) in pristine condition at all times, removing trash, debris and other items as needed
- Prevent the consumption of food and beverages within all company vehicles
- Maintain and log mileage, fuel and vehicle sign out records/documents
- Always adhere to the company Safe Driving Policy while also ensuring our high standards for client care and customer satisfaction.
- Always following HIPAA guidelines and client confidentiality
- Educating yourself prior to transports as to which clients you will be transporting and any/all protocols assigned to them individually by their treatment team which may include but not be limited to dietary restrictions/allergies, visitation, money handling/budgeting, behaviors, elopement risks, fall risks, and/or other high-risk situations that you should be aware of
- Completing required documentation for all client activities
- Ensuring client supervision levels are maintained at all times
- Attends training and in-services as required
- Required to follow the standard incident reporting procedures for any vehicle or incidents or matters involving clients
- Perform all duties assigned by headquarters/dispatch
- Always park in appropriate/legal parking spaces
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to drive, sit, step up and down steps, safely secure clients for transport, lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs, push/pull clients in a wheelchair on paved and unpaved paths, assist clients with walkers, gait belts, or any other gait difficulties or fall risks, able to transfer clients from bed to wheelchair and/or chair to vehicle, able to drive for long period while remaining alert and aware of surroundings, able to assist clients with toileting needs (as required) on transports. Frequently required to stand, twist, bend, reach with hands and arms, and climb. Occasionally required to stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, balance, taste, smell.
