Performance Benchmarking Infrastructure Developer

We are looking for an experienced full stack engineer with a broad range of skills, ranging from web development to low level performance profiling. You will work within a small, focussed team, guiding and supporting the development of performance critical database components.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Working closely with other technical teams that develop performance critical components
  • Design and development of benchmarking infrastructure
  • Ensuring information about the state of Neo4j performance is effectively disseminated

We’re looking for people with:
  • Superior communication skills
  • Sound understanding of database systems
  • Good grasp of statistics
  • An ability to condense large quantities of complex data, visually, as concise reports
  • Proficiency in Java
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Competence with common web technologies: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, React
  • High attention to detail
  • Interest in learning new things

Ideally you also have:
  • Experience working in a distributed team
  • Experience developing performance benchmarks for database systems
  • Experience with low level performance profiling and optimization, particularly on the JVM

Relevant additional technical experience:
  • Profiling tools: Java Flight Recorder, Async Profiler, Honest Profiler, Perf
  • Java Microbenchmarking Harness (JMH)
  • TeamCity - continuous integration framework
  • Plotly - JavaScript charting library

We don’t expect you to have experience across all these areas, our teams comprise of people with different skill sets. Many of our teams are spread over multiple locations, however, so you should be comfortable working as part of a distributed team.
