As a Tier 3 - Senior Cloud Operations Engineer, your tasks may vary day-to-day but primarily will focus on best-of-class support for AWS Cloud Infrastructure, including optimization and configuration. In your role, you will share your deep level of expertise in:
- Core concepts such as EC2, S3, RDS, Route53, CloudWatch
- Virtual Networking Topologies and concepts including VPC, routing, ELB, AZs
- Core AWS security and auditing capabilities including IAM, Security Groups, NACLs, GuardDuty, Inspector, CloudTrail, AWS Config, etc.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Accountable for a set of customers from a technical standpoint, understanding their business needs and initiatives in the Cloud to promote optimization of environments
- Lead Problem Management efforts to ensure 100% uptime without manual intervention
- Lead Major Incident bridge calls by stating the current issue and next steps in the investigation
- Finalize root cause analysis (RCA) for management review and customer delivery
- Adhere to strict Change Management policies and participate in daily Change Advisory Board (CAB) reviews
- Lead regularly scheduled calls with customers to address open tickets and concerns with services
- Perform deep dives on customer environments to optimize architectural design or service offerings
- Participate in an after-hours (inclusive of weekends) on-call rotation for escalations from the Cloud Operations Team
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- AWS Professional (Architect and/or DevOps) Certification or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of System Administration experience working with multiple clients and workloads
- Experience working with infrastructure as code such as Terraform, or CloudFormation
- Experience working with configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible or Puppet
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
Not Required, But Would be Helpful
- Additional AWS certifications a plus (Specialty/Professional)
- Experience with additional scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Powershell, Ruby, Python, etc)
- Experience with Apache, nginx, Tomcat, IIS, and varnish
- Experience managing MySQL and/or different SQL Servers
- Experience building and administering LAMP, RoR, Java, and/or ASP.NET web application environments
- Experience working with different Linux & Windows distributions
- Extensive understanding of various network topologies and protocols
- Hands-on experience with Docker, containerization and/or Kubernetes
