About the Job
The primary responsibility of the Accounting Manager is to oversee and provide supervision to the Accounting department (reporting to VP of Accounting & Finance), while ensuring that the financial statements of Mission accurately capture the financial transactions of Mission in a timely manner in accordance with GAAP.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide supervision, training and direction to a team of professional accountants/staff.
- Take lead in month-end closing, work quickly, accurately and juggle multiple priorities to meet established deadlines.
- Foster a team player environment with superiors, subordinates, peers and internal customers.
- Take a hands-on approach when necessary to meet timelines.
- Responsible for account analysis and reconciliation and journal entry preparation as required.
- Assess accounting operations to provide and implement process improvements to ensure accounting efficiency and effectiveness.
- Oversee and assist with the accurate and timely preparation of periodic financial results, forecasts & budgets.
- Research complex accounting issues and provide guidance.
- Work quickly to respond to ad hoc requests from management
- Assist in resolving accounting issues and setting accounting standards within company policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
Requirements
- 6+ years experience in Accounting.
- Strong experience in both public and private industry.
- Demonstrated managerial experience.
- CPA license.
- Strong GAAP and accounting process knowledge.
- Able to understand and synthesize technical accounting standards.
- High level of reasoning ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Experienced in fast-paced, dynamic environments, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong work ethic and understands month-end accounting close urgency.
- Unimpeachable integrity and can be trusted to maintain confidential information.
- Team player with a high level of energy, enthusiasm.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
