Research Scientist II

In addition to the responsibilities of the Research Scientist I position, scientists at the Research Scientist II are expected to have a higher-level understanding of how their research fits into the larger context, both within the academic and scientific community and as it applies to MIM and it’s customers.  Holders of the Research Scientist II position are expected to keep abreast of developments in the field relevant to their project areas and may be tasked with communicating with our clinical and academic partners. Research Scientist II’s may also be the “local expert” on complex algorithmic topics and provide support to members of the engineering and research teams.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Work independently and as part of a larger team within our research and engineering groups to develop novel algorithms for medical imaging.
  • Perform analysis and validation on MIM's software products
  • Work alongside our engineering groups to guide an algorithm from idea to clinical practice
  • Keep abreast of the academic literature in important research areas
  • Can be the primary contact between MIM’s research team and our clinical and academic partners
 
Qualifications:
  • Degree in computer science, biomedical engineering, applied math or other algorithmic-centric discipline or equivalent experience
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in medical imaging, numerical methods, registration and segmentation algorithms.
  • Proven ability to aid in the development of novel algorithms in medical imaging
  • Programming experience in Java, MATLAB
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Intellectual Curiosity
