Sr. Vice President of Data Science

Medable is transforming Life Sciences with data-driven and digitally-enabled clinical trial technologies. We are looking for an industry expert to lead our data strategy – charged with creating a modern portfolio of data-enabled software products and partnerships that enable effective therapies to get to patients faster. Our challenge is to bring together complex data from partners, medical devices, and IT systems within the healthcare industry and intelligently process and present this data to life science stakeholders: sponsors, trials teams, clinicians, patients, and caregivers to improve research outcomes and patient care. 

As the Senior Vice President of Data Science and part of Data and Analytics Team, you are responsible for conceptualizing, planning and executing advanced data projects to create exponential product portfolio value for Medable that will lead to better and more efficient clinical research and patient care. As the SVP of Data Science, you will create the strategy and oversee the execution and delivery of our data-driven technology offerings. You will rely on your deep industry knowledge, data expertise, advanced analytical skills, and your ability to interact with cross-functional experts such as biostatisticians, computational and computer scientists, clinical scientists and clinicians, to create novel strategies and products that enable data to drive new value and efficiencies in clinical trials for patients and other stakeholders. 

In this position, you will also ensure that Medable is the industry leader in data-driven clinical trials by generating leading data partnerships and building a data-ecosystem comprised of partners from diverse areas of healthcare and consumer markets.  You will rely on your deep industry expertise, strong industry relationships, and data expertise, advanced analytical skills, to communicate our strategy clearly to partners. In addition, you will maintain and expand knowledge of available healthcare data sources and applicable state-of-the- art analytical methodologies, large scale data processing and visualization, and languages and tools (R, Python, (no-)SQL, Hadoop, Spark, etc.).

  • Builds and maintains partnerships with other data scientists and analysts, biostatistics, medical and business leaders, and other key functional experts.
  • Responsible for planning and timely delivery of assigned projects.

Minimum Skills and Experience:

  • Advanced degree in data science related field (e.g. Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics). Graduate training or experience in biological/medical field is highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of industry experience in life sciences
  • Strong Programming experience with R, Python, and/or other quantitative software.
  • Strong experience in applying statistical modelling, machine learning, exploratory, and confirmatory data analysis in mid to large volume biomedical data sets.
  • Experience using big data platforms. In-depth knowledge of relational database principles and corresponding query language skills (e.g. SQL) is of interest.
  • Familiarity with regulatory framework and guidelines for pharma/diagnostics products is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of English in a business environment.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to negotiate successfully; strong influencing skills; self-contained and outgoing approach.
