Digital Strategist

Strategy at MCD is about identifying opportunities for our clients to excel digitally by helping them to best understand their customer, and grounding our work in both customer needs and business goals. We love research, testing, workshops, and any other tools that help us get at the heart of our customer and the problems we’re trying to solve.

MCD Partners (an M&C Saatchi Worldwide company) is a digital marketing & experience design agency with offices in New York and Chicago. We help brands design and build digital products and services that millions of people use every day. 
 
We currently seek a Digital Strategist to join our team in Chicago. We think sentences are more powerful than bullet points (though we use those too—see below). Tell us why you're the one we're looking for in your cover letter.
 
Our team does things like:
  • Identify challenges and opportunities
  • Understand user needs and behaviors
  • Translate business problems into customer problems
  • Write strategic briefs and POVs
  • Generate and validate ideas in the Insights Lab
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative research
  • Analyze all sorts of data
  • Measure in-market performance
  • Run workshops and brainstorms
  • Wear many different hats, sometimes at once (it’s a balancing act)
 
The Strategist’s core responsibilities include:  
  • Collaborate across teams to define objectives and establish approaches to solving challenges
  • Conduct primary research
  • Lead collaborative workshop sessions
  • Oversee secondary audience research activities (in conjunction with client or 3rd party)
  • Perform competitive analysis and identify gaps and opportunities in the marketplace
  • Assist on RFP responses for new business opportunities
  • Write presentations, POVs and strategic briefs and present thinking to clients
  • Collaborate on internal research and writing, including whitepapers and blog posts
  • Keep abreast of emerging behaviors, technologies, and companies that are changing our clients' businesses
  • Champion research and insights, and a customer-centric design process
  • Hang out with cool people  
 
We require that you have:  
  • At least 5 years experience in the digital space, in an agency environment, or in-house for a start-up, established brand or otherwise (preferred candidates have held a previous title of strategist, ux strategist, business strategist, digital strategist, ux researcher, digital product manager or the like)
  • At least 1-2 years experience with customer experience design
  • Experience analyzing web analytics
  • Experience conducting primary research—qual or quant (both even better)
