Lighthouse Community Center Coordinator (Minnie Street)

The Minnie Street Lighthouse Community Center Coordinator will oversee the children’s after school programs and empower Mariners volunteers to engage and serve the families in Santa Ana.  Building relationships, implementing programs and walking alongside of families in the joys and challenges of life are a small part of what makes this role so impactful and rewarding. With the work week being split between the preparation and meeting times at the Irvine offices and the Minnie Street LCC, reliable transportation and excellent time  management are a must. 

Additional responsibilities 
  • Implement programs that will meet the needs of community (tutoring, etc.)
  • Train, develop and empower volunteer leaders and volunteers to run daily, weekly and monthly programs
  • Engage relationally with families and individuals from the community. 
  • Recruit, train and develop a team of residents who will be empowered and deployed as leaders in the community.
  • Assist the Associate Director with the planning, execution, and marketing of Community Special Events (Fall Registration, Christmas Party, Block Party, Camps, etc.)
  • Oversee daily operations of center including facility use, program schedules and special events
  • Maintain relationships with building owners, property managers, city staff and personnel, neighborhood leaders, etc. so as to facilitate partnerships and leverage opportunities for working together.
  • Fulfill administrative responsibilities ranging from logging program attendance, reviewing metrics and financial updates.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 3-5 years’ relevant experience
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
  • Has demonstrated a personal passion for outreach to the local poor and needy
  • Holds and is able to cast the vision of Outreach Ministries
  • Customer service attitude and energy
  • Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Possess good organizational skills and efficient work characteristics
  • Strong computer skills: PC system and various software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills working with staff and volunteers
  • Ability to handle details, complex schedules and control of their own schedule
  • Ability to identify, develop, and oversee volunteer leaders
