The Kindergarten and 1st Grade Assoc. Director will oversee the vision for and all elements of the Kindergarten and 1st
Grade Mariners Kids weekend experience. This includes leadership in areas of volunteer recruitment, training,
development and shepherding of volunteers as well as oversight of Small Groups leaders and curriculum programming.
Works closely with the other elementary associate directors and the Children’s Pastor in the development of ministry
programming.
SPECIFIC MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Recruit, coach, encourage, develop and shepherd K & 1st grade volunteers.
● Develop volunteer coaches and senior coaches to lead all aspects of the ministry.
● Oversee volunteer scheduling for K & 1st grade in the weekend services.
• Recruit new leaders, onboard and implement all K & 1st grade volunteer orientation and trainings.
• Provide assessments regarding ministry programming and the K1 experience.
• Provide oversight and give input concerning the activities and implementation of Large Group, Small Groups,
and worship in K1 programming.
• Create, develop & implement special events for elementary aged kids throughout the year as scheduled for
Marriage Matters events.
• Participate and lead volunteer teams as assigned for VBS and other ministry-wide special events.
• Participate in bi-monthly Children’s team meetings, weekly experience debrief meeting, programming meetings
and meet as needed with the Children’s Pastor.
• Work with Exceptional Kids
• Maintain Ministry Platform volunteer records.
• Participate in one initial Rooted group and lead one Rooted Sessions in a calendar year (an all staff requirement).
Serve as a member of the staff performing duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Passion and gifts for developing, recruiting and shepherding volunteer leaders.
• Knowledge of age levels and learning styles within elementary ages and able to apply knowledge to classroom
management tools, and curriculum input.
• Thrives in highly relational environment and works well on a team.
• Able to be decisive, have strong problem solving skills and adaptable under pressure.
• Gifts in leadership, communication, and organization.
• Able to communicate well with, care for and build relationships with volunteers and parents.
• Loves kids and feels comfortable in a moderate level of joyful noise and fun activity.
• Enjoys challenges and highly adaptive to new ideas.
• Able to connect and adapt with consistently changing environment.
• 2-4 years professional ministry experience in a church context.
