We opened our first store in 2010 in San Francisco, bought a VW bus soon after, and since then we've been pretty busy--building a great brand, opening another 40 (and counting!) stores, and--most importantly--continuing to make awesome, super soft clothing. While we still sell the majority of our clothes through our retail and web channels, we have successfully launched a rapidly growing wholesale business. Our Wholesale Team works with independent specialty retailers to build long term partnerships and get more Marine Layer in the hands of new customers. We need someone who can join the team and expand our reach both domestically and abroad.
We're looking for an Account Executive; someone who can effectively manage all communication with accounts, support the business with travel, events, trade shows and targeting new business. We need you to be personable, goal-oriented and detailed, while also acting as an authentic brand advocate and representative of our seven-day weekend lifestyle. A successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative and highly dynamic start-up environment, excited to take on new challenges and help grow a new business channel.
SPECIFICALLY:
- Account maintenance- work market appointments, order entry, suggesting re-orders, inventory planning, marketing requests, product knowledge, merchandising support as needed
- New Account growth - build new partnerships through trade shows, cold calling and closing sales
- Support at trade shows, and work closely with director to oversee trade show planning
- Assist in assembly of sample sets, catalog creation and linesheets for each season
- Quarterly hindsight reporting: detailing account performance, style selling, and brand opportunities
- Researching events to help build brand awareness and excitement
- Travel for accounts and meetings
- Both Men’s & Women’s experience would be awesome! We are supporting both.

An Authentic Brand Advocate.
You should know the brand, like the brand, and understand what it takes to build the brand and represent the company in an authentic way. Outside of retail, our custom & wholesale team are the most externally facing people.
Wholesale Apparel Account Experience.
Proven track record and experience working and selling into wholesale accounts. You will be the primary point person at Marine Layer for your accounts and will need to secure new and re-orders throughout the year.
Fine Print: we ask that you have the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree- 3-5 years of sales and account management experience (preferably wholesale)
- Experience with Netsuite and Excel is a major plus
