Regional Controller

The Regional Controller is responsible for the finance & accounting functions of Lux Bus America. This responsibility includes partnering with operations to develop scalable business processes to sustain the growth of the company.  Development and monitoring of control systems, designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.  Achieving these goals while honoring Lux’s approach to business that starts with our commitment to safety, operational excellence, and customer service.
 
Leadership:
·       Must be approachable and act as a mentor on financial issues.

·       Must be a self-starter and intellectually curious.

·       Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team.

·       Establish and maintain relationships with Holdings’ team and other markets’ financial leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
·       Overall responsibility for, and leadership of all aspects of the Lux Accounting, and Finance.  Duties include timely reporting, internal controls, GAAP compliance, balance sheet and asset protection, risk management, process change, continuous improvement, and maintaining an efficient organizational structure.

·       Support Lux leadership team in identifying and evaluating new business and contract bid opportunities.  With the assistance of Holdings, develop and maintain modeling capabilities to evaluate both potential and current contract/customer profitability.

·       Support Lux leadership team in identifying and evaluating pricing and cost saving initiatives.  Establish monthly operations/finance team review to evaluate Lux performance and timely identify pricing, utilization and cost issues and opportunities. 

·       Work with the Holdings’ team to ensure appropriate capital planning and allocation to maintain existing operations and fund growth opportunities.

·       Evaluate, design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls in a change environment. Develop and refine efficient policies and procedures consistent with the Company’s desired internal control structure.

·       Develop a high-performing team, recruit where necessary and counsel any underperformers.  Ensure that direct reports have the necessary training and resources to do their jobs and ensure their goals are clearly defined and measured.

Reporting: 
·       Participate in developing an efficient monthly close process with a target close of 3 days.  
·       Direct the preparation of monthly and annual Lux financial statements.
·       Assist in the annual audit, financial statements, and footnotes. 
·       Assist in presentation of financial performance and KPI metrics at various levels of the organization. 
·       Develop financial and operational reports through Great Plains and other software systems.

Budget and Planning: 
·       Assist in development of the Lux annual plan and periodic forecasts.
·       Provide actionable variance analysis; ability to provide the key drivers of variances and present findings to regional and management audiences.

Process Change and Continuous Improvement: 
·       Help lead process Change Initiatives within the Accounting and Finance organization and potentially across multiple functional areas. 
·       Lead Lux in the integration of operations systems and Great Plains.  

Banking/Cash
·       Work closely with the local and corporate Finance Team to maintain strong cash flow, liquidity and A/R collections. 
·       Oversee management of Company credit cards, reporting, and monthly reconciliation.  
·       Manage the preparation of local tax compliance activities. 

Transactional Accounting: 
·       Leadership and responsibility for all transaction accounting activities.
·       Identify and implement KPI measurement system for all transactional accounting activities and personnel. 
·       Develop and maintain transparent reporting of issues, communication of actions taken and elevation where appropriate. 
·       Take ownership for maintaining/monitoring records and renewals for all fleet records, operating licenses, permits, and certificates, local tax filing requirements, and contracts.

Education / Experience:

 
▪      Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, prefer advanced degree with emphasis in Finance. 
▪      Public Accounting Experience required.
▪      CPA license preferred.
▪      Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a Finance and 

Accounting department in a medium- or large- size company.
▪      Minimum 5 years’ supervisory experience in Accounting and Finance.

Computer Skills;

 
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Microsoft office suite in particular Excel & Outlook, Power point, and Word.
 
Proficiency:
▪      Spreadsheet formatting (add rows/columns, borders, fill color, etc.)
▪      Spreadsheet formulas (SUM, IF, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, conditional formatting, etc.)
 

Other Qualifications:

 
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

▪      Ability to read and interpret documents such as State and Federal wage and hour law (California Department of Industrial Relations, U.S. Department of Labor, etc.), software operating procedures and instructions, company policies, etc.
▪      Handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
▪      Exhibit a high personal code of ethics, and reports to management any issues that come into conflict with accounting standards or are seen as detrimental to the business.
▪      Pass a Credit check as required by Lux Bus America
o   To ensure appropriate oversight of certain fiduciary responsibilities, we will require team members which hold applicable positions to be periodically rescreened (e.g., finance department team members)
▪      Pass a background check
