Server Software Engineer

We're looking for server engineers to join our team and help build a sleek, usable, beautiful product. We're hiring all ranges of experience - new engineers to those with decades of experience.

As an engineer at Lola, you'll collaborate with teams from across the company. You will help shape our architecture and work with many parts of our core infrastructure. This work might include projects like integrating a third-party data partner, optimizing existing code to make it more performant, helping build out our BI tools, creating the APIs for new features, or developing new strategies for managing our Elasticsearch stack. We are looking for someone with an appetite for growth, and we offer the opportunity to learn directly from our architect, our CTO, and a highly skilled group of engineers.

Qualified candidates have experience writing production-ready code, fluency in Python, and strong analytical skills. Familiarity with frameworks like Flask or Django, GraphQL, the AWS ecosystem, and Redis would be a plus, but we also value the ability and desire to jump in and learn quickly, even without prior experience with a specific technology. Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills (across different audiences), and the desire and ability to self-start and time-manage in a fast-paced environment would set you up for success in this role.

Lola is looking to add multiple experienced server software engineers to its rapidly growing team. We need your help to build the next generation of tools to streamline business travel, making the experience as seamless and convenient as booking consumer travel.

You Will:
  • Build resilient, scalable services to power our travel booking platform and other tools
  • Master our development process, culture and code base, then think of ways to improve it and implement within our team.
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to the team to enable them to build better software.

Must Haves:
  • 4 or more years of experience developing backend services and APIs
  • A solid understanding of best practices for back end software development including testing, monitoring, and design
  • Desire to go beyond the functional solution to build maintainable and well tested code
  • A desire to partner closely with product managers to refine the product
  • Ability to articulate and champion design strategies related to scalability, maintainability, performance, security and usability.

Definite plusses:

  • Any experience with the travel industry
  • Experience with highly scalable systems
  • Experience with some of the tools in our tech stack, particularly python, postgres, and graphQL
  • Familiarity with React or other modern front end frameworks
