We are looking for a Director of Human Resources to guide and manage our organization’s HR  by training, coaching, counseling, disciplining as well as reviewing individual career contributions and compensations.

Your role

  • Focus on talent acquisition and retention  
  • Involved in hiring, sourcing, interviewing and negotiating
  • Work towards employer branding of the company 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and resolve discrepancies 
  • Provide industry expertise as it pertains to compensation and benefits administration
  • Lead the development of department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Administer performance management platforms as well as improved systems
  • Research and present ongoing employment and compliance concerns
  • Execute employee orientation, development, and training
  • Build and refresh the organization’s policies and staff documentation
  • Manage HR issues such as conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and terminations; provide guidance and advice as appropriate
  • Build strong relationships with employees throughout the company and act as a liaison between other departments, divisions, and stakeholders
  • Oversee employee safety, welfare, wellness, health as well as provide counseling 
  • Select and supervise HR consultants, attorneys, training specialist, and coordinate company use of insurance brokers, insurance carriers, pension administration, and other outside sources 
  • Conduct a continuing study of all HR policies, programs and practices to keep management informed of new developments 
  • Participate in executive, management, and company staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets that include HR services, employee recognition, company philanthropic contributions and administration
  • Oversee all HR initiatives, onboarding, offboarding, systems, and tactics 
  • Other related duties as needed

What you bring to the table

  • Minimum 10 year experience in HR and  3+ years in a similar role and over, experience in a Startup or fast changing environment is preferred 
  • Experience in Senior level  (Directors’, VP) hiring 
  • Above average oral and written communication skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and development 
  • Ability to serve as a knowledgeable participant on the executive management team that provides company strategies, leadership and direction
  • You must be tech savvy and possess excellent computer skills
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Designation earned in Canada as a Certified Human Resource Leader (CHRL), however, Certified Human Resource Executive (CHRE) is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or ample experience in a relevant field is required
