Koahnic Broadcast Corporation- Chief Operating Officer

Koahnic Broadcast Corporation seeks an experienced leader to be the Chief Operating Officer. The candidate will have exceptional background in management and media operations. 

Position Summary

The COO directs, administers and coordinates activities of Koahnic in accordance with policies, goals and objectives. Leads and directs the following functions of Koahnic: national and local programming and distribution, finances, fundraising, engineering, information systems and human resources. Assists the CEO in development of organizational policies and goals. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, funding, and city regulations, certifications, and licensing requirements. Shares in responsibility with the CEO in planning, organizing, and implementing public and private fundraising initiatives.

Financial Management and Oversight

  • The COO will manage and oversee all planning activities; including: 
  • Oversee business policies
  • Review and analyze financial reports with the CFO and management team
  • Support and advise the President/CEO in decision making
  • Support organizational budgeting process
  • Oversee reporting and monitoring of organizational performance metrics

Human Resources

  • Oversee Human Resource function for Koahnic, including: 
  • Recruitment, hiring, and compensation
  • Benefits administration and oversight
  • Professional training and development, including new employee orientation
  • Regulatory oversight and legal compliance

Programming/Fundraising

  • Oversee the programming and fundraising functions at Koahnic Broadcast Corporation
  • Supervise the programming and fundraising staff, and provide strategic directions to the two functions

Operations

  • Oversee the day to day management of Koahnic Broadcast Corporation Operations.
  • Oversee risk management and legal activities: letters of agreement, contracts, leases, and other legal documents and agreements
  • Business insurance: procurement, monitoring and management
  • Information technology – working with the manager of information technology to ensure maintenance and updating of information systems and infrastructure; including hardware and software
  • Organizational reporting and monitoring: provide guidance and leadership through management of the Koahnic metrics and measurement reporting process
  • Office management: oversee administrative functions for all Koahnic offices including national office, ensuring smooth daily operations of physical plant and equipment
  • Board of Directors – through the President/CEO to provide staff support and guidance to the Koahnic Board and act as staff liaison to relevant board committees

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Desirable 
  • Strong operational experience: ideally has worked in a management role for 10+ years in a socially responsible organization with progressive experience leading to at least five years experience in operational/administrative management
  • Knowledge of financial planning and analysis with previous experience overseeing human resources, information technology, and legal environment
  • Skills should include organizational development, personnel management, budgeting, development of public media programming
  • Successful experience in fundraising
  • Development, and strategic planning; demonstrated success developing and monitoring systems
  • To manage both operational and programmatic work that involve high levels of collaboration
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of Koahnic
  • Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment 
  • Ability to find clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and
