Lightup is looking for a bizops yoda to take care of day-to-day affairs in running the company. We want to function like a well-oiled machine. We want clean, agile, well-designed processes that result in proactive actions and keep us from fire-fighting and correcting expensive mistakes. We want to plan ahead and make well-informed choices for conducting our business that set us up for long-term success. You will be the catalyst to make it happen.
As a business operations person at Lightup, you will get to see an enterprise tech startup build up from scratch. You will work closely with the founders on a daily basis. You will set up processes starting with a clean slate. You will grow with the company as it goes from a team of 3 to a team of 100 (and more) and steps through multiple financing rounds. The challenges you will face will change at a rapid pace with not a single dull day to while away. You will be joining the company at the ground floor with compelling equity. You will be a co-owner partnering with the founders in the trenches creating a legacy out of nothing.
You will carry all or part of the following categorized responsibilities at Lightup:
Operate governance, bookkeeping, compliance
- Interface with CFO firm and keep accounts in shape
- Interface with tax firm and keep us tax-code compliant
- Organize board meetings logistics and help with material preparation and filing
- Setup liability insurance(s)
- Keep all our business operations paperwork in shape and digitize it as needed
Operate HR
- Drive new employee onboarding to deliver a delightful experience to the candidate
- Handle HR issues like work auth verification, maintain employee handbook, interface with immigration law firm, handle immigration issues/H1B filings
- Setup and maintain payroll system, health insurance and benefits system, employee perks
- Setup and manage travel and expense policies
Operate recruiting and outreach
- Schedule interviews and follow-ups with candidates and make sure candidates are making progress through the recruiting pipeline
- Explore career fairs and arrange spots
- Find a graphic designer and get the company logo and branding material designed
- Get company swag designed and manufactured
- Arrange for booths in marketing events
- Manage social media accounts (when we activate them)
Operate the office space
- Find and negotiate real estate for office space
- Keep office space in shape, oversee contractor work, interior design
- Implement address changes and compliance with city ordinances
- Setup and maintain lunch catering, coffee supply, and snacks/beverages provisioning
- Organize quarterly company parties/retreats and weekly/biweekly happy hours
