Endocrinologist

General Duties

Responsible to provide patients with high-quality treatment and diagnostic services. Medical physician that specializes and responsible in diagnosing and treating hormone disorders and other problems relating to endocrine system. 

Accountable for evaluating symptoms, assessing, recommends surgery depending on the disorder and develop a treatment plan for patients. Providing patients with health care services that meet state and national standards in the medical profession. They are responsible for prescribing patients with appropriate medication for treatment, health regimens and lifestyle adjustments that will contribute to their recovery from diagnosed health issues, prevent future health issues and/or promote a healthier life. 

Responsibilities 

  • Analyzing, examining, and investigating patients and their medical histories for signs and symptoms of hormonal imbalances.
  • Advising, ordering, and performing tests and interpreting the results.
  • Discussing diagnosis with patients, explaining treatment options, and giving advice on medications, lifestyle and dietary changes, and other preventative measures.
  • Carrying out follow-up appointments, monitoring patient progress, adjusting treatment plans and medications, and updating patient records.
  • Supporting patients with serious or complex endocrine conditions and their loved ones.
  • Conducting research and studies on the endocrine system and its diseases, disorders, and conditions to develop new treatment techniques.
  • Perform surgical procedures commensurate with surgical competency.
  • Keep updated records of patients’ illnesses, surgeries or other medical episodes (allergic shocks, injuries etc.)
  • Keep abreast of advancements in their specialization as Endocrinologist and best practices by attending seminars and conferences
  • Be prepared to leave at the end of the day only after patient care is completed.
  • Be willing to sign off on PA and Nurse Practitioner notes as well as review lab results and imaging studies during downtime (non-patient care periods during the clinical shift).
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Understand the concepts of universal precautions, HIPAA and OSHA.

Qualifications

  • Licensed in the state
  • Obtained the Internal Medicine Certification and specialized domain of Endocrinology
  • A thorough understanding of the endocrine system and its diseases, disorders, and conditions.
  • Strong analytical abilities to provide accurate diagnoses.
  • Excellent decision making, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and researching skills.
  • Experience with EHR (electronic health records) preferred
  • Proficiency with computers and medical equipment.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages will be advantageous.
  • Must have a criminal background check.

Education

  • .A Medical degree in Endocrinology and the successful completion of a residency and fellowship.
  • A medical license and certification to practice Endocrinology.

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in endocrinology medicine

The employee is required to stand and walk. Clinical shifts may require a decent amount of physical stamina given the duration of shiftwork. The employee must occasionally lift/move 30 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
