Player Development Coordinator - Basketball

Koa is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Rockville, Maryland.  We are a dynamic, fun, growing company, with a bleeding passion for sports!  Our mission is “shaping kids’ lives through sports” every decision we make, comes back to our mission.  We have 15 full-time employees and a part-time staff of over 300 and looking for another all-star.  We are looking for candidates that are leaders and have a high appetite for learning that wants to excel in our entrepreneurial environment.  
 
Our office/training facility is over 12,500 sq feet, which includes.  A full-court basketball court, two batting cages, a parent lounge, and a full weight room!  Not a bad place to come to work every day.
 
 Job Description:
 
The Player Development Coordinator will provide support for Koa’s Director of Basketball and specifically spearhead the basketball training program.  Including boosting sales and streamline operations and schedule training sessions for the Koa Basketball Department. The schedule will be flexible during the week, however, basketball training occurs on weekends where will the Player Development Coordinator will need to be present. Salary is uncapped with commission opportunities.
 
Responsibilities:
 
High Level:
●     Sell Koa's basketball training program
●     Customers outreach- emails and phone calls
●     Scheduling/Staffing/Recruiting Coaches 
●     Develop sales and marketing strategies to acquire new clients
 
Day to Day Operations:
●     Sales (daily calls to current or past customers, coaches, programs, and organizations)
●     Marketing (emails, flyers drops, signs, etc.)
●     On-Site Operations (evenings and weekends during training hours)
●     Answer phone inquiries and registrations
●     Coach fill-in when needed
●     Report on coaching quality and operations of programs by attending practices/events
●     Facility management (sweep/mop court)

Qualifications:

  • Basketball playing and/or coaching experience
  • You have an understanding and interest in sports, and understand the youth sports realm
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative, and solve problems independently
  • Knowledge of Google Drive programs
  • Self-starter and motivated 
  • Goal-oriented
  • Extremely organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of sports, sales, event marketing, and social media
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and nonstandard hours
  • Available to work 30-40 hours per week
  • Ability to lift 40lbs
