What is Jolt?
 
Jolt is a high-growth software company that is transforming operations for the desk-less workforce. (Restaurants, entertainment, etc.)  Jolt provides software that empowers employees to love their work by automating mundane daily duties including task management, food safety, label printing, employee time-clock, and scheduling, among other many other exciting solutions!  We serve thousands of customers including world-class brands such as McDonald’s Chick-fil-a, Legoland, etc.

Externship Description:
In this position you will have the opportunity to help a rapidly growing software company with internal data privacy compliance programs. This will include projects centered around reviewing and updating internal data privacy policies and documentation.

These projects may include: 
  1. The review of statutes and guidance letters for protecting customer and employee PII within jurisdictions that Jolt is planning on expanding into.
  2. Gap assessment to identify areas where Jolt should improve its data privacy protection programs. 
  3. Drafting internal memorandums regarding the protection of PII based on current state, federal, or international law. 

Responsibilities:
  • Review and summarize data privacy laws from state, federal, and international law. 
  • Apply data protection law to Jolt’s current operations procedures, identify major risks and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Coordinate the implementation of data privacy improvements (if needed) in conjunction with Jolt’s department leads. 
 
Qualifications:
  • Current 2L or 3L law student in good academic standing at an ABA accredited law school. 
  • Familiarity with GDPR and CCAP is recommended but not required. 
  • Undergraduate degree in STEM, Business Operations, or Accounting/Finance is recommended but not required.
