Joby Aviation is seeking an engineer with experience developing radio systems in airborne applications.
Responsibilities:
- Lead design, verification and test projects for radio frequency electronics and antennas for aircraft-based communication and navigation systems, including but not limited to, VHF radios, GPS, VOR, ILS, and transponders.
- Own all aircraft command, control, and telemetry systems at a systems level.
- Be responsible for the correct functionality of all flight critical radio systems onboard the aircraft.
- Requirements and interface definition, design for test, hands-on testing, performance and design verification
- Resolve anomalies that occur during integration and test.
- Execute on design certification and/or showing compliance with RTCA/DO-160, DO-254, DO-262, FCC or equivalent regulations, etc.
- Monitor the effectiveness of engineering changes over time.
- Create specifications and design of test equipment to be used in the production environment as part of the manufacturing process.
- Develop test equipment and procedures to support certification efforts.
- Design of electronic circuitry with the aid of schematic capture software and PC board layout software.
- Antenna and antenna-related RF component design and development.
Basic Requirements:
- Master's degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience
- 2+ years experience developing airborne RF systems.
- Operational understanding of the following RF systems:
- Standard VHF AM voice communication radios
