About the Job
Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join our quality assurance team. As part of this team, you will oversee the quality aspects of the composite design and manufacturing processes for VTOL electric aircraft. This Quality Engineering position will help baseline the company’s hardware design efforts and pave the way to production ready hardware. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. Responsibilities
- Review for and integrate quality features in composite product designs and process specifications (inspection, test, capability, key characteristics, audit)
- Develop Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis for the composite manufacturing process and implement corrective actions to reduce the RPN.
- Development and implementation of Quality Inspection & Test Plans for composite product (Incoming inspections, in-process inspections, integration into Router flow, in-process audit, final inspection).
- Development of the AS9102 FAIR process and implementation for composite parts.
Required:
- Minimum 8 years experience in Aerospace including minimum 2 years in composites design and/or manufacturing.
- Aerospace product and process control - planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling and measurement systems.
- A fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, ISO9001 standards, organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction, supplier relations and performance, leadership, training, interpersonal relationships, improvement systems and professional ethics.
- AS9100 Quality Management System development and implementation
- Quality Program Management - tracking, analyzing, reporting and problem solving.
- Basic knowledge of aerospace reliability, maintainability, and risk management, including key terms and definitions, modeling, systems design, assessment tools and reporting.
- Thorough understanding of problem-solving (corrective action) and quality improvement tools and techniques (eg: six sigma, lean). This includes knowledge of management and planning tools, quality tools, preventive and corrective actions, and how to overcome barriers to quality improvements.
- Internal audits - audit types, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results and follow-up.
- Development and presentation of quality reports for management review, corrective action and continuous improvement activities
Desired:
- Six Sigma certification
- Training experience as a preparer and presenter of training courses.
- As an Audit Lead; able to effectively plan, communicate, and execute an AS9100 internal audit within its defined scope, including scheduling resources, conducting necessary meetings in performance of the audit, and using appropriate techniques to gather, identify, and classify objective evidence.
- Automotive quality engineering experience; especially APQP, FMEA, SPC, PPAP and MSA.
