Facilities Safety Lead

Seeking a motivated, positive person to develop and evaluate safety protocols to support Joby Aviation personnel. The Safety Manager implements all aspects of the health and safety program and objectives including training, auditing, administering equipment and reporting.  Applicant is expected to have experience with safety protocols related to light manufacturing, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and Proper Protective Equipment (PPE). This position requires a person that has strong leadership, a hands-on approach, and excellent communication skills.

  • Develop, implement and evaluate safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • Plan, organize and conduct ongoing safety training for all employees 
  • Enforce adequate health and safety practices at workspaces on a daily basis
  • Ensure safety onboarding for new hires
  • Procure and maintain emergency preparedness materials 
  • Oversee regulatory compliance and perform routine safety audits
  • Recommend safety equipment, and inspect equipment regularly to ensure it is in proper working order
  • Administer PPE specific to employees duties 
  • Investigate workplace accidents or incidents to discover causes and ensure corrective actions are taken; provide recommendations for ways to prevent similar incidents
  • Maintain relevant health and safety documents, training records and reports 

  • 3+ years experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment with the responsibility to implement the protocols of a safety program 
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, regulatory compliance, experience with inspections, process safety and safety training
  • Knowledge of PPE and safety equipment
  • Ability to develop job specific safety policies and write procedure manuals
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to understand, interpret, explain and apply laws, rules and regulations

  • Experience with high voltage
  • Experience communicating with local and State regulators and safety compliance inspections 
  • Hazwoper certified
