Content Editor

This role is primarily charged with enhancing and optimizing job posting content, maintaining high data quality, and ensuring that each Job News job is the most complete and compelling version of that document on the web.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Review every job submitted to staging and respond appropriately:
    • Activate fully optimized jobs
    • Enhance/optimize jobs requiring additional attention
    • Reject jobs that fail data quality compliance; notify reps and customers whose jobs are rejected
  • Optimize job content for:
    • Conversion optimization (compelling content)
    • Human readability
    • Machine readability
    • Data quality
    • Gender neutrality, active voice and other issues related to conversion optimization
  • Raise overall level of job completeness through direct intervention, and rep and customer outreach and education
  • Perform competitive research to understand how jobs attain high rank in search
  • Use O-Net, and other databases and resources to enhance job content

Knowledge and Skills

  • Previous copywriting and/or editorial experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent grammatical, spelling and proofreading skills
  • Fast typist
  • High work accuracy and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of search engine optimization
  • Moderate level of competence with common internet technologies and applications
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and basic web metrics
  • Four-year college degree in English, advertising or marketing preferred
