Process Improvement Engineer I, $60-70k/yr DOE, Savannah GA – Direct Hire
A leading global company in the energy field is actively looking for a Process Improvement Engineer. The Improvement Engineer I is an entry-level position that requires knowledge of engineering principles and begins to develop specific application knowledge through training and work assignments. The Improvement Engineer I Implements process improvements using effective planning practices through applications of Lean Manufacturing and standard industrial engineering tools. This would include coordination of the respective production processes to achieve on-time project completion based on contractual requirements and operational lead-times.
Daily Duties & Responsibilities:
- Champion and provide follow up to Kaizen improvement events targeted towards increasing operational performance consistent with the business plan.
- Lead both direct and indirect co-workers as necessary to meet all business requirements
- Lead and facilitate 6S activities and ensure long-term sustainability
- Effectively and cooperatively deploy LEAN & Continuous Improvement methods into the organization
- Develop recommendations and identify opportunities to improve processes
- Develop and maintain tools such as process maps for project and process improvement efforts
- Develop, maintain, and monitor the relationship and operational performance and metrics such as productivity
- Identify methods to improve the capture of key metrics and supporting reporting of metrics in Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost
- Support work teams to teach and expand the basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement philosophy. This includes the auditing, training, and administering of programs such as IDEAS, 6S, TPM, MST, Standard Work, and Work Combination Sheets;
- Support of the visual factory inclusive of communications tools, monitoring of product flow, ongoing review of progress to set targets;
- Communicate with various levels of the entire organization regarding strategy, plans, events, and results of improvement initiatives and production schedules.
Your Qualities:
- Education and/or Experience:Four-year degree in a technical or engineering discipline or 5 years related manufacturing experience. Must have the ability to demonstrate the successful usage of the appropriate level of improvement tools.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Project Coordinator
- Mechanical experience
- Mathematical Skills, Reasoning Ability, Language Skills
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of ERP systems, and accounting, database, manufacturing, project management, spreadsheet, word processing, and email software.
