Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

We are looking to hire a full-time Site Reliability Engineer to start immediately.
 
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering and will employ DevOps tools and best practices to help with and improve the development team’s production. Problem solving is key with the ability to utilize creative and innovative thinking.  

Qualified applicants are able to balance multiple tasks and projects effectively and quickly adapt to new variables. This applicant will have the ability to effectively solve complex problems and contribute to a team of developers. In addition, qualified candidates will possess the ability to monitor systems through automation and create alerts when problems arise.
 
Rather than include the same old boring job description, here is a list of tasks the prospective employee may be asked to accomplish and/or attributes the candidate should possess:
 
 
Primary Responsibilities:
        
  • Deep understanding of AWS and engineering skills to facilitate deployments and migration plans
  • Develop and implement architectural designs and diagrams
  • Engineer solutions for infrastructure as code
  • Automate processes and systems configuration/deployments 
  • Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with the development team to streamline code deployment
  • Use/Implement automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD)
  • Analyze code and communicate detailed reviews to development teams
  • Collaborate with team members to improve the company’s engineering tools, policy and procedures, and data security
  • Ability to gather and aggregate metrics and logs into structured applications

Some must haves:
 
  • Expert in continuous code deployment and integration tools (Jenkins)
  • Expertise with AWS 
  • Experience with languages such as Python, and Go
  • Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum)
  • A deep understanding of containers and a working knowledge of Docker
  • Extremely organized, process-oriented and thorough
  • Senior level experience managing a broad range of systems, networks and operations in a results-oriented environment
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future
 
Other information:
 
Compensation based upon experience. 
 
Our office is headquartered in the historic Stockade neighborhood in Schenectady, NY. The option to work remotely is available to the right candidate, however the ability to work from within one of our offices is preferred (Dallas, New York City, Schenectady).

The hours would be approximately 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (East Cost, EST), depending on workload, with the occasional late night when a tight deadline calls for it.
 
Our work environment is very casual and like to laugh a lot.

We are a growing INC 5000 recognized company, yet still a very close-knit team (70 employees).
 
We work for security conscious clients, thus background checks may be required.
