ISLAND seeks a full-time Production Manager to join our growing Production team in Oakland, CA. We are looking for candidates interested in and available to cover our day shift (6:00a-2:30p).
The Production Manager will be responsible for the management and direction of production personnel in support of the conversion of cannabis flower into Island’s end products. Ideal candidates will have a four-year degree with at least four (4) years of production management experience in a manufacturing and environment. Join a creative and innovative team in Oakland!
Responsibilities
- Supervise production associates and hold direct reports accountable for their performance; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures
- Ensure that all production associates are properly trained to operate the equipment in a safe, efficient manner based on current SOPs
- Oversee the production planning, staffing and day to day manufacturing operations in a cost-effective manner, help to develop, track and record operational KPI’s. Monitor and manage overtime
- Identify barriers to meeting production goals and help develop and implement improvement plans
- Facilitate team meeting and encourage an open door policy to resolve issues
- Help control costs of material, labor, and equipment in accordance to budget
- Improve product quality and consistency, minimize low-grade production, unscheduled downtime, yield loss, manufacturing cost and waste in all production processes
- Coordinate daily activities of production, quality and cleanliness of plant
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state and local laws/regulations
- Handle some administrative duties
Physical Requirements
- Remain standing/walking for extended amounts of time daily
- Regularly lift 25 lbs
- Safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs when necessary
- Ability to work in an adverse environment with varying temperatures and conditions seasonally
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/equivalent + relevant work experience or BA/BS
- 4+ years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced production environment
- Passion for high quality, handcrafted goods with interest in the cannabis industry
- Strong communication and leadership skills, including self-motivation
- Familiarity with OSHA and safety regulations
- Previous budget and profit & loss responsibility preferred
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and a high level of integrity
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends
