Position Preview
The objective of the Regional Sales Rep is to immerse them-selves into market by creating relationship and opportunities that requires their presence in the local market. This requires spending a defined time independently from independent representative and directly calls on specifiers in home base territory to build relationships. In the rest of the territory, manage and oversee the independent sales agents; evaluates agent performance and make recommendations for hiring and termination; make calls with agents and provides training to increase sales of our firm’s products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Setting yearly sales target
- Develop business plans for agents in assigned territory
- Responsible for achieving sales, profit, and growth goals for all products within an assigned territory (Los Angeles Area)
- Provide agent training on new and existing products
- Build direct relationships with specifiers, and other users of our products
- Ensure that sales are profitable and meet or exceed expectations and requirements as agreed by Management
- Participate in Business Plan activities as required by preparing and presenting a detailed analysis of the current year, sales projections for future timeframes, analysis of territories and sales force effectiveness and plans for expansion and enhancement of brand awareness
- Secure activity plans for upcoming year in line with overall media and activity plan to increase sales and enhancement of brand awareness.
- Direct, coordinate, manage and motivate the activities and efforts of the independent sales representatives throughout regional territories
- Make calls with agents on those who specify lighting products
- Work with agents to identify potential markets for products in areas covered
- Promote the firm’s value proposition and increase brand awareness
- Provide information on competitive activity in territory
- Provide new product idea input
- Participate in trade shows as required
- Maintain detailed schedule in Salesforce. Responsible for entering and maintaining project pipeline in Salesforce, that is current for own territory
- Responsible for entering and maintain client contact information in Salesforce, that is current for own territory
- Conduct and attend meetings, training sessions and strategic planning activities to educate sales force, enhance business opportunities, development action plans, and grow the business
Financial Responsibility: Moderate damage or loss is possible but can be prevented by considerable care and attention. Territory quotas range between $2.0 million and $8 million, dependent on number of agents in territory and quotas assigned to agents.
Contacts: Position involves contact with persons inside and/or outside the Organization that require some resourcefulness, tact, and working knowledge of policies, practices and procedures.
Judgment and Decision Making: Moderately complex work performed within established practices and procedures requiring original thinking. Receives direction as to assignment and general methods of execution, with periodic review of assignments.
People Management Responsibilities: The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing the activities of independent Sales Agents and has responsibility for recommending the retaining or termination of their services.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years of specialized training
- 4 - 6+ years’ experience in sales and/or outside sales
- Experience with Lighting, Lighting Sales and/or Lighting Design, preferred
- Experience with Sales and Management
Compensation and Benefits
Depends on experience, certifications and portfolio
- Annual Base Salary: Range $120,000 - $130,000
- Bonus Structure, 30% of base as potential
