The Role
We are looking for a dynamic Staff Accountant to support the Finance organization as we continue to grow. The ideal candidate will have great interpersonal skills and will have solid business acumen. You can expect the majority of your time to be focused on making a meaningful impact to a rapidly growing fintech startup based in downtown SF. Your colleagues on the Finance team are comprised of public accounting, banking, and startup alumni, and this role will have constant interaction with all members of the Finance team. Your day to day activities will vary but you can count on learning about the month-end close process, technical GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and also audit preparation. A strong independent worker that can navigate working on multiple projects will surely succeed in this role.
The primary traits we are looking for with our new accountant:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or similar; with public accounting background and/or CPA being a plus.
- 2-4 years of related accounting experience.
- Recent experience with financial services or consumer lending at a startup preferred.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and how to apply them in practice.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, to include Intermediate MS Excel skills (VLooksUps,Pivot Tables, etc.)
- Possess very good communication skills - written and verbal.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Self-starter and collaborative personality would be a huge plus!
What you’ll do on a day-to-day basis:
- Support the preparation of account reconciliations, including operating and settlement bank accounts and general ledger accounts
- Process accounts payable across multiple entities
- Initiate daily payment settlements for lending and business partners
- Process payroll and related journal entries on a bi-weekly basis
- Support the month-end close process and the preparation of KPIs
- Assist in preparing audit related schedules during our YE audit
- Perform analytics and special projects as requested.
