Job Summary:

The Connected Services Systems Engineer is responsible for developing end to end functional requirements for connected services features.  Working with internal and external teams, the Connected Services Systems Engineer develops requirements in a flexible and robust manner to support our worldwide customer base.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Defines the end to end connected services feature requirements including definition for all customer interaction channels (i.e. smartphone and web).
  • Provides a level of functional detail in requirements sufficient for downstream teams to use in designing a robust feature
  • Completes a thorough failure mode analysis for features and ensures that the results are factored into the functional requirements.
  • Works with the Business Architect team to include the necessary security elements within the functional requirements.
  • Supports the team in developing the functional objectives and user stories for new features and enhancements.
  • Ensures components within the system are properly defined through functional specifications to support the connected services feature.
  • Updates a project plan for each feature and communicates status, risks and escalations to the leadership team.
Requirements:
  • Seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented person who will be responsible for designing multiple connected services and features, some of which must be done in parallel. 
  • The candidate must have a strong technical background and be well versed with systems integration as well as familiar with cloud and iOT technologies. 
  • The candidate must have an "end to end systems" thinking view and be able to quickly identify and resolve gaps in requirements that can impact the execution of a service or feature. 
  • The candidate must work well with people, have experience working with a global team including supporting global time zones, and be able to work with multiple suppliers.
Basic Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of systems software development experience.
  • Experienced with integrating complex multi systems solutions.
  • Experience with Cloud, iOT platforms.
  • Experience with evaluating systems designs.
  • Experience with API design and development practices.
  • Trouble shooting / Root cause analysis experience.  
  • In-vehicle connectivity experience is a required.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Prior experience in Connected Vehicle.
  • Prior experience working with an Automotive OEM.  
  • Strong multi-tasking capabilities in a cross functional setting.   
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills both oral and written.   
  • Ability to interact with business partners and service providers at multiple levels.   
  • Ability to hold themselves and others accountable resolving issues and maintaining project timelines.   Strong knowledge of requirements gathering techniques.  
  • Demonstrate leadership and initiative with ability to collaborate with the global team to creatively solve complex problems.  
  • Ability to indirectly lead a cross-functional team towards a common solution.
  • Ability to work within an offshore application development supplier engagement model.
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn complex business processes.
  • Exposure to AGILE, DEVOPS & ITIL concepts.  
  • Managing DFMEA's, vehicle CAN Bus and logging tools is a plus.
