Job Summary:
The Engineering Research & Development (ER&D) Model Planner is responsible for leading and managing the day to day status and forecasting of future needs of vehicle program ER&D (Engineering Research & Development) budgets for a complete vehicle line (4-12 programs).
- ER&D tracking begins at a vehicle pre-spend and continues through launch.
- ER&D is the cost to design and develop a vehicle which includes manpower, builds, co-design costs, prototype tooling, etc.
- The ER&D estimate is created internally within the group with the Model Planner tracking the spending as the program gets approved.
- The Model Planner position supports the MR/VLE (Model Responsible/Vehicle Line Executive) in all aspects of ER&D tracking.
- Manage the daily flow of requisitions for each program.
- Provide monthly program updates to our internally produced Model Planner Report distributed throughout the company.
- The Model Planner must be able to work in periods that may be highly stressful such as when large quantities of requisitions are being processed for multiple prototype builds.
- Will be responsible for gathering Powertrain ER&D cost for vehicle programs and working with Model Integration manager for cost rollup accuracy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or Engineering required.
- Forecasting experience desired.
- 2+ years of automotive experience preferred.
- Must be a highly motivated, detail oriented, and a self-directed process thinker.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Strong written and presentation skills are a must.
- Strong computer proficiency required; especially Excel (pivot tables), PowerPoint, & Outlook.
- Familiarity with automotive components especially Powertrain is helpful.
- Will be required to drive a company car. May be required to travel domestically 20%
