Job Summary:
The Transmission Calibration Engineer will be responsible playing an integral part for developing the customer driving experience as well as optimizing fuel economy. Key activities include developing and releasing transmission calibrations (shift schedules) for automatic transmission applications, performing hands-on in-vehicle calibration development work, supporting test trips to verify proper transmission operation across operating conditions and other assigned powertrain development activities. This position will work with in-vehicle test instrumentation, ETAS-INCA calibration tools and mathematical analysis tools such as Matlab to meet objectives.

 Requirements: 
  • Engineer will be a part of the powertrain drivability and benchmarking team.  
  • Engineer will conduct in vehicle assessments on all automatic transmission vehicles. 
  • The engineer will report out results to guide powertrain calibration development in the areas of : electronic throttle controls, torque map, torque filtering, shift patterns, torque converter and shift quality, along with engine start/stop and idle control.  
  • Engineer will review data with calibration engineers to address short comings based on subjective and objective metrics.  
  • The engineer will recommend calibration strategies based on competitive benchmarking data.  
  • The engineer will gain valuable experience utilizing advance calibration equipment and tools such as ETAS/INCA , AVL, and Matlab.  
  • Engineer will learn to update both engine and transmission software, debug cars, and gain an understanding of shift controls and interactive features between the engine and transmission
Requirements 
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
  • 0-3 Years related experience with related projects, internships or co-ops
  • Experience with drivability testing/Formula SAE
  • Experience with ETAS/INCA
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
Driving and Travel Requirements:
  • Will be required to drive a company car.  Will be required to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
