Job Summary: 
Work with product release engineers to conduct detailed fastener joint design reviews, in order to provide recommendations relative to fastener selection and fastener best practice implementation; Oversee testing in the fastener lab with bargaining unit personnel; Help to develop fastener best practices; Respond to plant production issues as needed; Act as main point of contact for product teams in your functional area.
Job Description
  • The Fastener Engineer will be responsible for fastener selection/best practice implementation for all fastener applications on a given engine program and act as primary lead for fastener development including data collection for torque/clamp studies, torque spec development, and maintain prototype level, torque specification sheets for various engine programs.  
  • Additionally, the Fastener Engineer will lead RCA, design improvement activities, support SQA to resolve quality issues, support AME/Plant(s) on fastener related manufacturing issues, benchmarking of competitive engines and participate in post-test inspection reviews.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering degree
  • 2+ years of experience in an automotive production design development & release environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fastener selection/joint design/testing experience
  • Use of Unigraphics NX and Team Center.
  • Plant production launch experience.
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green / Black Belt.
  • Proficient in MS-Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Self-starter with strong leadership, communication skills, demonstrated problem solving ability, and have the ability to manage multiple projects.
Travel and Driving Requirements: 
  • Will be required to drive a company car.  Will be required to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
