Job Summary: 
The Process Engineer is a key position within the Process Applications and Methods group that is responsible for the Powertrain Controls Process. The group is responsible to define, implement and support process improvement initiatives throughout Powertrain Controls areas including: Systems, Controls, Software, Calibration, Test and Release. 
Typical Duties of this position include: 
  • Gathering stakeholder requirements and translating those requirements into best practice processes. 
  • Support new process development, implementation and audit of required processes into corporate tools (ie. Stages, ALM). 
  • Ensure alignment between internal and external stakeholders via the appropriate application and reinforcement of defined processes, leading joint reviews, conducting gap analysis, etc. 
  • Optimizing interfaces between areas within Powertrain Controls and Corporate processes. 
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and training on process throughout Powertrain Controls. 
  • Conduct and present analysis of project and organizational performance against defined processes and continue optimization of current processes. 
  • Support project coordination and process consultant activities within the project teams.
The "Quality-&-Process Engineer" of the Emissions-&-FE-Testing Department is responsible for, but not limited to: 
  • Procedure documentation, 
  • assessments for efficiency (process capability, 
  • cycle-time, downtime data with impact categorization,
  • and FTC monitoring); 
  • DFSS/DMAIC project execution; and implementation of lean process methodologies, 
  • continuous quality-improvement strategies, 
  • and autonomous mitigation/prevention of test issues aimed at both quality improvements and cost reductions. 
Requirements: 
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • NO ENTRY LEVEL! 
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in defining and/or applying process improvement techniques for Key Performance Indicators [Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale].
  • Experience with full process quality deployment and optimization in a high-paced production or test environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Experience with engineering standard measurement techniques and tools (MS Office Suite, Minitab, SPC, distributions, etc.)
  • Proficiency with: DFSS/DMAIC/Six-Sigma and root-cause analysis tools (PFMEA, 8D. 5S. Kaizen. Gage R&R. ANOVA. ISO-12207 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science degree.
  • Experience in project management including MS Project.
  • Strong facilitation, mentoring, and coaching skills working with individuals and groups. Demonstrated experience communicating effectively to senior level management a plus
