Principal Systems Engineer

Job Summary: 
The Systems Engineer works closely with the other engineering functions (ME, SW, Systems integration, Layout, TPM) to define high level functional and nonfunctional requirements, analyze technical trade offs, define systems and subsystems with their associated dependencies and interfaces. The systems engineer translates complex solutions context into detailed multilevel requirements which are the guide for the engineering execution. 

Job Duties:
  • Manage technical requirements for the overall architectural and engineering design consumer/industrial systems 
  • Drive hardware and software architecture on fast moving projects
  • Define high-level opportunities, explore an array of solutions and define the decision criteria
  • Analyze macro and micro level cost and performance ROI
  • Establish non-functional requirements incl. security, reliability, maintainability, usability, etc
  • Define software and hardware subsystems and their interfaces; allocate responsibilities to subsystems
  • Drive implementation adherence
  • Assess technical risks and develop mitigation plans

Requirements:
  • BS degree in an Engineering field
  • 5 years experience in system design or software architecture
  • Technical expertise in at either Enterprise Software or Electrical Controls
  • Track record of experience with INCOSE best practices and methods 
  • Experience developing complex systems from concept to deployment
  • Ability to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

The Team Member is frequently required to sit, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, bend, stoop and reach with hands and arms.  Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day.  The Team Member may occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 25 pounds.  Proper lifting techniques required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The noise in the work environment is usually moderate.  Other factors are:
  • Hectic, fast-paced with multi-level distractions
  • Professional, yet casual work environment
  • Office / Warehouse environment
