WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for an experienced back-end web developer to join our growing agency in Vancouver, Canada. You’ll be part of a cross-functional, client-focused team creating enterprise-level e-commerce and marketing solutions.
You have a passion for identifying, solutioning, architecting and communicating technical challenges and requirements. You’ll work closely with clients, Shopify app and integration partners, and a team of strategists, designers, and developers to produce e-commerce experiences that are user-focused, well-documented, performant, fully-tested, and written with reuse and maintainability in mind.
As a Senior Back-End Web Developer, you have the capabilities to fulfill multiple roles. You will primarily support backend development but also be capable of providing technical leadership and architectural oversight. Experience with e-commerce systems, in particular, Shopify Plus is highly advantageous as is exposure to developing on AWS services (e.g. OpsWorks, EC2, RDS).
Who We’re Looking For:
- Degree in computer science, a diploma from a technical college in web development, or related work experience (minimum of 3+ years).
- Solid understanding of modern back-end development techniques (e.g. Object-Oriented Programming and fluent interfaces).
- Expert level proficiency in PHP and WordPress.
- Strong proficiency in Shopify’s platform, including integrations, theming, and app development.
- Experience solutioning, architecting, gathering tech requirements and producing related documentation for large scale e-commerce solutions.
- Experienced with agile working sprints and daily project stand-ups.
- Experience with project tracking tools as a core part of your workflow (Trello, Jira, or similar).
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing technical leadership on projects with complex functionality and integrations
- Architecting and developing back-end code, primarily in PHP, with reuse and long-term maintainability in mind for Shopify Plus and WordPress projects
- Working directly with clients and vendors to identify and document technical requirements
- Collaborating with project management on estimates, timelines, and statements of work
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional team members across front-end development, design, strategy, and UX on project delivery
- Supporting the Director of Development in growing the team and our technical standards
Note: we’re only pursuing candidates with existing paperwork to legally work in Canada and are available to work on-site at our downtown Vancouver office.
