Operations Manager

  • $90,000.00 - $1,150,000.00/year
  • The position of Operations Manager will oversee all daily operations of the site inclusive of production, manufacturing, warehousing, export processing, DSD fleet/tractor/trailer management, ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures. The incumbent will develop and adhere to defined processes that will maximize stewardship, team development, safety, quality, yields, and productivity. This role will be a member of the operations leadership team and must adhere to the values of the organization when making decisions and solving problems.

    *The position will report to the COO.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Daily Duties
    • Walk production, warehouse, CSR area and external facility daily to review quality, waste, employee well-being and other opportunities for improvement
    • Daily huddle and review of previous day’s production
    • Review production planning and ensure understanding of upcoming orders
    • Review order fill rates
    • Review raw material orders requirements and age of raw materials
    • Review any safety hazards
    • Review any maintenance issues
    • Issue daily KPI site report
    Weekly Duties:
    • Review previous week trending/reporting on KPIs, costs, and manpower
    • 1 on 1 meetings with direct reports
    • Participate in weekly Ops and Maintenance Meeting
    • Maintenance Review and prioritization meeting
    • Quality Assurance review of KPI’s
    • HR review on recruiting/retention, absenteeism, discipline
    • Review with supplier/vendor community new opportunities such as:
    • New taste profiles
    • New product innovation
    • New equipment
    • Liaise with CFIA on any issues and calibrate with operations/QA team on prioritization
    • Bi weekly -  Breakfast club with staff members on floor
    • Execute a minimum of 2 STOP Observations 
    • Review production scheduling for the coming week
    • Interview prospective employees

    Monthly Duties:
    • Monthly meeting review with management team and report out to executive
    • Monthly meeting review with customer and report out on KPIs
    • 1 on 1 with all indirect reports
    • Town hall update with all staff
    • JHSC meeting with corporate safety and safety team members
    • Monthly Safety Inspections
    • Monthly BRC meeting with QA and program revision
    • Joint Labor Monthly Review with Union
    • Store audits and report out opportunities for improvement
    • Complete and conduct site MMR (Monthly Management Review)
    • Participate in monthly Ops – Financial and Performance Review
    • Review Good Neighbor schedule and activities
    Quarterly Duties:
    • Quarterly review presentation format with customers and suppliers
    • Review IDP (Individual Development Plans)
    • Review performance goals and targets
    • Update and review employee skill matrix
    • Review capital expenditures
    Bi-Annual Duties
    • Mid-year performance reviews
    • Succession planning review with HR
    Annual Duties:
    • Strategic planning with management group
    • Strategic planning session with suppliers
    • Capital Request and recommendations to improve facility
    • Budget review
    • Performance Management Review for staff
    • Individual Development Planning for staff
    Critical KPIs:
    • Cost -$/kg
    • Fill Rate – Production/Order 
    • Warehouse/DSD/Trailer Utilization
    • Equipment Downtime
    • Plant Utilization
    • Cases/Man-hour
    • Customer complaints, claims, cost, and satisfaction
    • CFIA/HACCP/BRC Audits
    • Turnover/Absenteeism
    • Waste Reduction/Yield Improvement
    • TRIR/Severity/Frequency/WCB work orders
    • Total Delivered Cost
    • Inventory Accuracy

    Salary Range: ~$90,000 - 115,000 CAD
