Director of OH&S | Toronto, Ontario
We are looking for a dynamic individual to take on the challenge of Director of Occupational Health & Safety for a rapidly growing organization in the environmental consulting space. This opportunity would be meant for someone who is looking to take on a challenge of developing and leading new OH&S business line eventually building out a team of highly skilled and technical professionals who share the same
passion and dedication to ensuring safe and healthy workplaces.
This position requires an experienced individual who has a depth of experience and understanding of occupational health & safety issues across diverse industry sectors with a focus of the environmental industry. Experience in program and policy development, management and evaluation is required; and experience in a strategic managerial role would be a valued asset.
Reporting directly to the CEO this position is responsible for the strategic direction, planning, implementation of the organizations new occupational health & safety business line while providing leadership by
communicating and demonstrating the vision and overall strategic direction of the Occupational Health and Safety Division.
Job Requirements
Extensive working experience and knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and its application to the Environmental industry as well as;
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written);
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
• Strong organizational and planning skills;
• Strong management, interpersonal, and influencing skills at all levels from the sites to the boardroom;
• Proven coaching and teaching abilities;
• Proven skill in the development, implementation and management of OH&S management systems;
• Knowledge and experience with OH&S management systems
• Strong business and financial acumen;
• An understanding of business drivers and the ability to influence and facilitate the implementation and
maintenance of the OH&S managed system;
Education, Experience and/or Credentials
• Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Safety, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Management;
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or other
applicable qualification/designation;
• Minimum 10 to 15 years of directly related experience in a senior leadership capacity;
• Strong claims management experience;
• Knowledge of both US and Canadian HSE regulations, codes, practices and standards;
• Experience in the environmental consulting industry an asset.
