Alice helps small business owners launch and grow. Since launching in May 2017, our goal is to help 6 million owners succeed through our free digital platform, HelloAlice.com. Alice serves all entrepreneurs and we wholeheartedly believe that if underserved business owners -- women, people of color, veterans, the LGBTQ+ community, entrepreneurs with disabilities, people in small towns, and immigrants -- are provided better access to resources, they can change the world.  Our vision is to be financially successful while making a positive impact on economies and job creation.

Alice is growing a diverse team, and we’re looking for a Product Designer to help us fulfill our mission of connecting all entrepreneurs to the resources they need to grow and scale their businesses. We’re leading a movement to connect every founder, regardless of geography, capitalization, prior experience, or cultural constraints, to the experts, tools, knowledge, and communities that will propel their companies forward. Alice is a Series A-backed company with teams in Houston, TX and San Francisco, CA. We are helping hundreds of thousands of owners a week in all fifty states. Led by co-founders Elizabeth Gore and Carolyn Rodz, we are hiring self-starters who can build the plane while flying it.

If you’re a product designer, in either San Francisco or Houston, who’s passionate about building an impactful product, a little nitpicky about kerning, and excited to jump into a collaborative team, send us your resume! You’ll be responsible for the UX and UI of helloalice.com all the way through the design process from wireframes to final mocks. If you like to work hard and you never shy away from a challenge, and you like to have fun in a supportive and collaborative environment, you belong on Team Alice.

Required Skills/Experiences:
  • You thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, aka you can roll with fast deadlines, left turns and occasional craziness
  • You have 2-4 years of experience designing software products
  • You’re very familiar with following a design system, and maybe you’ve even created one before
  • You have a bachelor's degree in a relevant major
  • Your portfolio will blow our socks off, with product design work that demonstrates your incredible attention to detail and amazing creativity
  • You have work that spans across devices and screen sizes, and you have a great eye for beautiful mobile design
  • And that portfolio also demonstrates a fundamental understanding of the formal elements of design including color theory, typography, layout, grid systems, etc.
  • You can create wireframes to work through UX problems quickly and efficiently
  • You’re very comfortable communicating your design decisions with a team of Product Managers and Engineers to create requirements, etc.
  • You consider yourself a true team player, who can both take and give constructive feedback in a kind and supportive way
  • You’re pretty dang proficient, if not an expert, with Sketch
  • You’re familiar with InVision and Abstract
  • You can take projects and run with them, from ideation right on through to production, while still gathering collaborative feedback from the team.
  • You have an interest in evaluating your designs through user testing and analytics, and you’re excited to iterate on your work based on that information
  • You’re pumped to participate in user research with the Product Team to better understand the needs of our customers and partners - you might even want to lead some of those sessions
  • You’re excited to learn and grow as a designer, and help other creatives do the same

Bonus Points
  • You don’t need to know how to code, but understanding how products are built is always helpful
  • Experience using project management systems (Notion, G Suite, etc)

Our company values are important to us. We thought we would share them with you as someone interested in joining our team.

INNOVATE ALWAYS. Seek out unique perspectives, diverse experiences, and disconnected dots. These are the seeds of big ideas and exceeded expectations, made even better through constant collaboration.
EMBRACE FAILURE. Learn from the inevitable failures that result from innovation, and move forward quickly with a pioneering spirit. Champion the doers, celebrate their contributions to the team, and don't shy away from difficult conversations.
DRIVE THE MISSION FORWARD. Everything we do is through the inclusive lens of helping all business owners launch and grow, regardless of who they are or where they come from. Hold yourself to the highest standards of quality and equality in everything you do.
EVERYONE TAKES OUT THE TRASH. No task is too small for the success of our company or our owners. Always be thoughtful and practice extreme kindness toward our team, partners, and owners.
SIMPLIFY AND COMMIT. Maintain a bias toward efficiency, acting quickly and testing often. Recognize the opportunity cost of every decision, commit to deadlines, be on time, and search for simple, smart solutions.
