We are adding an entry level position to our team of consultants located in Hagerty’s Evanston, Illinois; Austin, Texas; or Washington, D.C. office. The candidate must be flexible to travel for extended days and/or repeated periods within the U.S.
Responsibilities Include:
The ideal candidate should have an interest in the emergency management field. The candidate will participate in and/or coordinate project initiatives for federal, state, local, tribal, and/or private sector clients related to emergency management and homeland security. Work may include, but is not limited to: capabilities assessments, emergency operations and/or contingency plans, documents, manuals, policies, procedures, training, and exercise. Develop technical reports, meeting materials (e.g. agendas, meeting notes, PowerPoint presentations), and surveys. Participate in and/or coordinate project teams.
The candidate will participate in and/or coordinate project initiatives for federal, state, local, tribal, and/or private sector clients related to emergency management and homeland security. Work may include, but is not limited to: capabilities assessments, emergency operations and/or contingency plans, documents, manuals, policies, procedures, training, and exercise.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working remotely, have the ability to be calm and poised under pressure, be able to work successfully on multiple projects simultaneously, and remain focused when working under tight deadlines.
Basic Qualifications:
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to produce technically and programmatically sound deliverables (writing sample is pre-requisite).
- Must have high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products to self-produce materials
- Understanding of the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP); certification in HSEEP preferred
- Working knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Incident Command System (ICS), the National Response Framework (NRF), National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF), and other federal preparedness guidance documents and policies
- Experience researching topic areas, and working on complex projects of various sizes, to include presenting deliverables to a project manager or client
- Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management (or related field) and up to three (3) years’ experience in emergency management, homeland security, disaster resilience, information technology/cyber security, medicine and public health, and/or law enforcement
Additional Qualifications:
- Certification in HSEEP preferred
